When it comes to my own religious beliefs, I have always had a view on it that many find offensive.
Throughout the history of time, religion has been somewhat of a dampening towel on our advancement as a human race. In fact, if it were not for Christianity, we would be 100 years ahead of our time when it comes to technology and out understanding of the universe. During the 100 years of the crusades, soldiers would go across Europe destroying advancements that were deemed against the word of God. They raped, pillaged, and killed in the name of their God.
Even today, the old ways of religion are holding society back. Stem cell research can do some amazing things, and aborted fetuses are not the only source of these stem cells. In fact, when someone dies, it is easy to extract the stem cells from their corpse. It would be the same thing as being an organ donor. We can actually grow human organs in a lab, which would save millions of lives.
But no, we can't make these kinds of advancements. We can't save lives because the religious community says that would be playing God. Not only these advancements, but our general understandings are being dampened. The end of the world theories, the anti-homosexual groups. Religion is a facade that has been slowly destroying humanity throughout the history of the world, and it must be abolished if we are to ever get anywhere.
Many are offended by this rule, usually because of the general brainwashing of most children from an early age. I'm not specifically trying to offend anyone or bash a certain religion, these are just my own beliefs on the subject.
I respect your own personal opinion on the topic. I do not judge. You can believe what you want to be. I want to tackle one thing that really stood out for me in your post. The statement on the fact without christiantity we would be 100 years ahead. You may be correct, but at the same time we would more than likely be 100 years behind without it. Our nation was founded on christianity. Without christians you wouldn't necessarily be living in the America we have today.
ReplyDeleteI agree that stem cell research should get the go ahead and not be held back by a paganistic fertility concept absorbed by a stagnant faith. For a good example of All life is sacred and those single cells are life look at octo-mom. She is the honest reprecentation of this one point in christian theology and she's an idiot. I personally am pro-research and beleive that with stem cells we can allow those who are disabled physically a second chance at life, something far more precious in my opinion than a perfectly good cell flushed down the biohazard tube.

ReplyDeleteThe country being founded on Christianity is actually not completely true. Sure, many of our founding fathers were religious, but many were anti-religious. Benjamin Franklin himself actually shared the same opinion as myself, that religion was a poison.
Why do you think we have separation of church and state? If there weren't the anti-religious founding fathers, then there would have been no one to step up and create that law.
I agree that Christianity is somewhat holding America to its full potential in growth but if looked at Christianity did have some sort of built into America’s making by using the radical thoughts of Christians of a better life and well being for all.
